There are both good things and bad things about playing on a team, such as the RTMS soccer team or the RTMS volleyball team. Write an essay (2 paragraphs) comparing and contrasting playing on a school team. Be sure to explain each point thoroughly.

How do you take tests? Do you get nervous or anxious? How do tests affect you? Over the next few weeks, we will spend a good amount of time going through all of the different test-taking strategies (and there are lots of them). However, at the end of this unit, you will have a great deal of knowledge to help you combat the many types of tests you will face over your lifetime.

Warm Up: Besides the Cornell System, what are two more ways you can take notes in class?

Marginalia – what is it?
Marginalia is note taking in the margins of books. It’s that simple!
But how does it work? Students use post-it notes in order to take notes. Students open their book to whatever chapter they are currently working on. They will read one to two paragraphs at a time (depending on the amount of information in each paragraph). Then they will take a post it note and put it in the margin of the paragraph(s) they just read. On the post-it note, they will SUMMARIZE the information they have just read.
Marginalia makes studying easier because studnets have the summarized information right in front of them. Students won’t have to re-read each paragraph. Instead, they can go over their post-it notes.
HINT: Studying becomes easier if students color-code their post-its by chapter. In other words, make each chapter a different color.
